Turning voices into change

About Speak Sister

A movement was born...

In 2026, I experienced one of the most traumatic periods of my life.

A childhood trauma that I had carried quietly for many years was suddenly thrust into the public eye. I found myself having to tell a story that was never meant for public consumption, a story that belonged to a younger version of me, shared before I was ready, before I felt safe, and often before I felt I had a choice.

Again and again, I was asked to revisit experiences that no child, (or adult) should ever have to endure.

But from that pain, Speak Sister was born.

Speak Sister is the reclaiming of my story. My voice. My safety. My power.

It is a space built on the belief that survivors deserve to be heard on their own terms, in their own time, and in ways that feel safe for them.

Whether you join as a quiet ally, a loud advocate, or as visible threads to an invisible story, this movement belongs to every person who has ever felt silenced, dismissed, doubted, or unseen.

I see you.

I hear you.

And above all, I believe you.

Whether you're a hairdresser, beauty therapist, massage therapist, dentist, tattoo artist, physiotherapist or another professional who works closely with people, your service can have a profound impact on someone's sense of safety.

For many survivors of sexual violence, routine appointments can be unexpectedly challenging. Physical touch, close proximity, removing clothing, reclining in a chair, unfamiliar environments or a loss of control can trigger distress—even when the care being provided is appropriate and well-intentioned. Trusted Spaces aims to educate professionals and services on how to provide trauma informed services for all who walk through their doors.

Visible Threads, Invisible Stories

About Visible Threads, Invisible Stories Project

Some stories are easy to tell. Others are carried quietly for years.

Visible Threads, Invisible Stories was created to honour the experiences of victim-survivors of sexual violence and to create a simple but powerful way for our community to stand together in solidarity.

Each ribbon represents a story. A story of survival. A story of healing. A story of loss. A story that may never be spoken aloud.

By purchasing a ribbon, you're helping raise funds for Speak Sister and the work we do to create safe, supportive spaces for women. But you're also becoming part of something bigger. You're helping make visible the experiences that so often remain hidden.

You might choose to write a message of hope. A few words of encouragement for someone who is struggling. A tribute to someone you've lost. Or perhaps a symbol that reflects your own journey when finding the words feels too hard.

Hang your ribbon from your letterbox, tie it to your fence, wear it with pride, or gift it to someone you care about. However you choose to share it, your ribbon becomes a visible sign that says:

I see you. I believe you. You are not alone.

Whether you are a survivor sharing your own story, an ally standing beside someone you love, or a community member wanting to show your support, every ribbon helps create a community where people know they are heard, believed, and supported.

Because while our stories may be invisible, together we can make sure no one has to carry them alone.
